News - Lily Allen Hits The US Press

Lily Allen Hits The US Press

Posted by Mehmet, Jan 16, 10:49 AM EST

Y'all ready for a Lily Allen digest? Unless you have been living under a rock these past few months, you already know that British sensation Lily Allen is causing a major stir in the US. Not only is Allen is recognized across the boards as an artist to watch in outlets such as The New York Times, Vibe, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Spin and The Los Angeles Times, she also ranked #1 on Blender’s list of “25 Reasons to Love ’07” and #1 in URB’s Future Music issue. She graces the cover of the January/February issue of URB along with producer/DJ Mark Ronson and is the subject of a nine-page spread. Now comes news she’s just been named an MTV “Discover and Download” artist and is confirmed to headline MTV's first "Discover and Download" tour. Allen will perform on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on February 2nd and she recently appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

There is a reason Allen was dubbed "the queen of MySpace” and in addition to having played a secret show in Seattle for MySpace members, she continues to captivate fans with her blog. She has been selected as the next “The New Now” artist for Yahoo! Music’s prestigious “Who’s Next” promotion, which helped break artists as diverse as Corinne Bailey Rae, James Blunt and KT Tunstall in the past. Clear Channel has singled her out for its NEW! program, which gives enormous visibility to three rising artists from five formats on its stations’ websites. It will include a video capturing a day in the life of Lily Allen in Los Angeles.

Tired yet? We've got more: Allen is currently a featured artist on MSN’s “Ones To Watch” and XPN’s “Artist to Watch” programs. Later this month, AOL will host a listening party and Allen will perform on Sessions@AOL. She will be Nokia’s “Spotlight Artist” for February and a special Lily Allen Rhapsody Original Sessions EP featuring three live tracks will be released on February 6th.

If you already own a copy of the import Alright, Still consider this: Her domestic release will be the first full-length CD in the U.S. to include u-myx software, which allows fans to create their own mixes. Our hands are already itching to make our own "Smile" mash-up! Additionly, the U.S. release will feature two bonus tracks – “Nan You’re A Window Shopper” and the Mark Ronson remix of “Smile (Version Revisited).”

As if that wasn't enough, lead single “Smile” has been named as one of the year’s best songs by Rolling Stone, Vibe and Spin and has been tapped by Electronic Arts’ upcoming “The Sims 2 Seasons” video game, scheduled for a February release. The video for “Smile” has been added at FUSE, where it’s been in rotation for several weeks.

And if you have not seen any of the early album reviews by now, which are nothing but stellar, you now check them out here.
