Sa-Ra Creative Partners are set to release their first ever album, The Hollywood Recordings, April 24th on Babygrande Records. The list of featuring artists includes Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, Bilal, Capone-N-Noreaga, Pharoahe Monch, Kurupt, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Lord Nes, and more.
Since stepping out from behind the boards and carving a serious name for themselves as a group in 2004/05 with "Glorious," "Rosebuds," and "Double Dutch," the hype for the trio has soured as the quality of their recent remix work and singles to quench fans’ thirst for a proper long player. Aside from their ambition to be as musically revolutionary as "James Brown, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, Parliament," judging from the previews of The Hollywood Recordings,, Sa-Ra have encapsulated part of their original sound with a fuller, more accessible, production. If hip hop is mad slow techno, Sa-Ra's "Bitch" and "Hey Love" are wicked sluggish broken beat. Are they America's answer to the UK's Bugz In The Attic? We'll have to wait until the rest of the LP comes.
