Ivy Co-Founder Andy Chase Set To Release Brookville’s ‘Life In The Shade’

Posted by Michael Yu, Apr 02, 02:25 PM EST

Following up to 2003’s critically acclaimed ‘Wonderfully Nothing,’ Ivy co-founder Andy Chase is set to release Brookville's second album ‘Life In The Shade.’ An album filled with lush landscapes with a dab of romanticism, ‘Life In The Shades’ hosts a handful of contributing musicians including James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) Eric Matthews (Cardinal), Jean-Pierre Ensuque (Autour de Lucie), Jon Skibic (Gigolo Aunts), Danny Wienkauf (They Might Be Giants), producer-programmer Michael Hampton and many others, including our friends Didi Gutman and Sabina Sciubba of the Brazilian Girls, who make a guest appearance on the song “Nothing’s Meant To Last.”

The first song to have an accompanying video, a few weeks back I got a chance to take a sneak peek of the filming of “Nothing’s Meant To Last.” Produced by Zach Morensen of independent production company Ghost Robot and directed by Adam Neustadter and Peter McCoubrey of Wormseye, the video takes a simple and artful approach that seems aptly suited for the feel and textures of the song. Filmed in New York City, the video is set in rooms with a 1960s feel to it as we watch Andy and a woman, shuffling through postcards from all over the world (Tokyo, Paris, Los Angeles, New York), separated by distance but connected through messages to each other on the postcards. A charming video from what I have seen so far, it made me crave for those days of sending personal postcards or making cassette mixtapes, where the time needed to do so, added much more to the intended message. I miss those days, but that’s another story for another day….in the meantime, we have some photos from the shoot as well as "Nothing's Meant To Last" for download.
