Getting Crazy With Gnarls Barkley

I’m sure by now you have heard of Gnarls Barkley, the collaboration between visionary producer Danger Mouse and R&B vocal star Cee-Lo Green. But in case you missed it, with all of the press surrounding the debut of this group, we thought it would be nice to give you a "here's what happen last time" recap of Gnarls Barkley, as we count down to the release of their debut album ‘St. Elsewhere.’

Set to be released on May 9th on Downtown Records/Atlantic Records, Gnarls Barkley, a name that the duo wanted to sound like its own genre, has already made headway in the UK with the song "Crazy" becoming the first single ever to reach number 1 on digital downloads alone.

Here in the US, the fanfare has been just as high with lead off single “Crazy” receiving huge support from radio (#1 Alternative Specialty), the video “Crazy” being featured as MTV2’s “Unleashed Video,” press coverage from CNN, New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, Blender and more, as well as “Crazy” being played on the ABC TV show Grey’s Anatomy. The song hasn’t yet hit the O.C., but if that does happen, I might have to say the exposure has gone too far. But then again, with as catchy of a song as “Crazy,” can you really blame them? Until that happens and you start to dislike Gnarls Barkley purely because all of the hype, enjoy it for what it is, a nice blend of rock, funk, and soul that will have you unnoticeably humming to yourself in the coming months.
