Stepping up within 48 hours of last year's Hurrican Katrina impact, MoveOn launched HurricaneHousing.org, a website that enabled people to donate an extra room to stranded evacuees. Within a week, over 160,000 people had offered up their homes, and within 2 weeks, the program had safely housed around 30,000 evacuees.

Having already taken the UK by storm, Corinne Bailey Rae is steadily showing US fans what this UK artist has to offer. Signed to Captiol Records, Corinne Bailey Rae will soon return to Europe to play a handful of dates. But if you missed her while she was in town and live in NY, she will be playing at Webster Hall on August 23rd and a free J&R Musicfest show at City Hall Park the day after around 5pm.

In addition to a long awaited solo show at Irving Plaza, Skye will also be doing an acoustic in-store performance at the Virgin Megastore in Union Square (NYC) on at 6 PM on 8/22. Word is that Skye will be performing solo on guitar singing 5 tracks - 3 from her album, a Morcheeba song and a surprise cover.

The shortlist nominations for the 2006 MOBO awards were announced this morning, and as expected, there is an overflow of heavy competition. I can't quite explain the Baltimore sound, but one artist that has been creating a stir is Spank Rock, who recently released his debut album 'YoYoYoYoYo' via Ninja Tune/Big Dada. Currently touring in support of this album, Spank Rock will return in September for a handful of dates, as he continues to spread his sound that people either seem to hate or love.
