With Apple seemingly taking over the world, despite a market share still in the single digits, it didn't suprise us to recently hear that they sometimes host performances in their stores. This is new to me, but tomorrow, July 18th, Talib Kweli will give a free in-store performance in New York's SOHO Apple Store at 7:00pm in support of his forthcoming solo album 'Ear Drum.' He will also be joined by Jean Grae, the first artist signed to his Blacksmith Music imprint, making the performance...

So the name’s a little stupid, but the rest of Brazilian Girls’ upcoming album, 'Talk to La Bomb,' is anything but. Serving up heavy doses of their signature international intrigue, fit for noir nights out dancing from Berlin to Buenos Aires, 'Talk to La Bomb' is a more refined step forward from last year’s self-titled debut on Verve Forecast. Recorded in just over a week in Jimi Hendrix’s, New York Electric Lady Studios, the quartet turned to Ric Ocasek (former frontman for The Cars)...

While classical arrangements of modern music has been done before from Radiohead to Metallica, one forthcoming release that seems to take it a step forward is 'Warp Works + Twentieth Century Masters.' Set to be released in September, 'Warp Works + Twentieth Century Masters' finds the London Sinfonietta interpreting the music of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher as well as legends John Cage, Steve Reich, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Edgard Varese and others. Getting his inspiration from watching the film "Wild Style" in the early 80's, DJ Krush has grown to become one of the pioneers of trip-hop and downtempo music. Returning to the fold, on September 19th DJ Krush brings us a "best of" record. However, like any DJ Krush release, it isn' quite as it seems for instead of merely picking "key" tracks throughout his career, he opted to personally rework songs from his back catalog for a double CD / vinyl release called 'Stepping Stones: The...

Upon walking into the TLA on Philly's famed South Street to see The Brand New Heavies, I was definitely nervous. With 20 minutes until the show started, the venue was virtually empty and the few bodies that were there plastered themselves to bar stools. The show was supposed to begin at 9 p.m. with opening act Van Hunt, a band that carved a deep reputation for carrying the pure soul movement.
Five minutes before the show started fans piled in and crowded the front. Van Hunt and his...

Recognized for her sacred blend of jazz, hip hop, soul, funk and rock with an exclusive, not to be missed acoustic set with selections for her acclaimed debut album, 'Breath From Another' and follow-up 'Wikked Lil' Grrrls.'
Esthero was much more than a one-night stand. 1998's Breath From Another was the catalyst that sparked a love movement in...
