Giant Step ‘06 has been far from scant with presenting its share of quality live shows and events, and now we’re pleased to announce that we can’t – and just won’t let the party stop!

Announced earlier this week, 12-time Grammy nominated artist India.Arie, has been nominated for BET's Best R&B Female Artist. Having won in this category in 2003, India.Arie hopes to make it two for two at this year's 6th Annual BET Awards. The 6th Annual BET Awards will air live on Tuesday, June 27th at Los Angeles' Kodak Theater.

Not only does San Francisco have beautiful weather, but this Memorial Day weekend, the first annual Grind & Glory Youth Hip-Hop Conference, a FREE hip-hop music conference for young men and women ages 15-25, will be held at San Francisco State’s downtown campus. For those of you in SF, it definitely looks to be something worth checking out. More details are below.

According to weather bug, Friday is suppose to be a bit rainy in London. But if you need something to get you through the day, take an extended lunch and visit Island Records offices in London at 3:30pm. Founded in 2006 by Maureen Yancey, the mother of world-renowned hip-hop producer J Dilla, who passed away on February 10th, the J Dilla Foundation was formed to keep J Dilla's legacy alive as well as to raise funds for lupus research and to provide training and support for underprivileged children who aspire to enhance their creative talents primarily in music. According to MTV news, A Tribe Called Quest are set to reform, at least for a reunion tour, with US dates planned later this year (October/November).
