release description

iMAYDAY! consists of MC Bernbiz and producer/keyboardist Plex Luthor with work under his belt for Algorithm, Ecko multi-media, Discovery Channel and various Adult Swim spots. In 2004 the duo released “Quicksand” which became a local classic and caught the attention of up and coming record label, SouthBeat Records. Since then they have shared the stage with The Roots, Method Man, Redman, Mos Def, MF Doom, De La Soul and in early 2006 they released their first commercial single, “Angles”, distributed by Counterflow Distribution. However, their big break came after their video for the song “Groundhog Day” featuring Cee-Lo (Gnarls Barkley / Goodie Mob) and the legendary 6 time World Champion DJ Craze, was added to youtube.com. Within 48 hours, the video achieved over 2 million views and media giants such as ABC World News Tonight, NBC 6 Evening News and Inside Edition were the first among many to cover this breakout story. The video was recently added to VH1 Sub Soul and MTVu.

Led by “Groundhog Day” that "captures the electric excitement of a city on the verge of a breakthrough" (Miami Herald), the self-titled album features fourteen songs presented in a hodgepodge of styles that draws from disparate genres such as rock, jazz ad Motown. The second single “Watchin' Me” is a hip-hop anthem with rockin' synth interludes and touches on themes such as civil liberties and surveillance in the US. Other highlights include the hard hitting “4X4” and “Chasing Ghosts.” It can be said that the iMAYDAY! sound is a mixture of dusty drum patterns, warm keyboards and the human experience - everything you miss about hip-hop.
