Backyard Bangers' phenomenal debut album on, 'New Math,' is the brainchild of hip-hop-derived-electronic music production/DJ team of E.Moss and The Troublemaker. In explaning the title, E.Moss explains “It’s new patterns, new concepts, new time signatures,” with Troublemaker adding, “Music is math, and our tracks are constantly changing.”
“There’s nothing worse than a four minute beat that doesn’t go anywhere or tell any kind of story,” says E.Moss. “We take pride in not making anything boring.” And their creative calculations are killer cuts. Instrumental music in the future tense, New Math is the sum total of their collective influences: today’s electronic scene, old school hip-hop, prog rock, and synth pop.
