Featuring jazz-fueled remixes from Mark de Clive-Lowe, Nickodemus and Trüby Trio, this unique 12-inch is a tasty slice of what to expect on the new ObliqSound Remixes Vol. 2 full-length.
Independent New York/Hamburg based imprint ObliqSound teams up with famed industrial designer Karim Rashid to re-envision the CD design for the 2nd installment of label’s remix compilation series The ObliqSound Remixes Vol. 2. The set features stand-out selections from the label’s eclectic roster of artists (including Renovation Unlimited, Tama Waipara, Grand Pianoramax and Gilfema - featuring emerging West-African guitarist/vocalist Lionel Loueke) brilliantly re-worked by a world class collection of contemporary music innovators such as Osunlade, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Matthew Herbert, Nuspirit Helsinki, Trüby Trio, Nickodemus, Atjazz and more. This 12-track compendium also includes a bonus disc of the original recordings and bonus material.
The second release in a series of 3 limited edition vinyls hand picked from the upcoming CD release of The ObliqSound Remixes Vol 2, this 12-inch marks Karim Rashid’s first venture into record design. The triple threat on the second 12-inch edition opens with a down-tempo lounge revision to Tama Waipara’s “Where I Go” courtesy of Mark de Clive-Lowe. Nickodemus drenches big, happy percussion over Gilfema’s joyous “Akwe”, and Trüby Trio rounds out the grouping with their elegant reinterpretation of “Sabari”. Nickodemus thoughtfully opens his toolbox for the fourth track, offering stripped “Akwe” bonus beats. With three amazing remixes and more, this beautiful 12-inch is sure to please.
