release description

Born and raised in Scotland, Paolo Nutini is a singer/songwriter blessed with a soulful, passionate voice and the natural gift of being able to tell a story in a song. Like many of the truly inspired artists before him, Nutini, whose great-great- grandfather immigrated from Italy to Scotland, has absorbed the soul of classic artists from both sides of the Atlantic and put his own spin onto something original and dynamic. After quitting school and moving to London at age 16, Nutini started performing at clubs around town. His bold voice and provocative songs created an instant buzz and shortly after signing to Atlantic Records at age 18 he headed to Liverpool to work on his debut album with renowned producer Ken Nelson (Coldplay, Ray LaMontagne, Badly Drawn Boy).

These Streets follows Paolo's departure from his beloved Scottish hometown to his arrival in sprawling London, as chronicled in the title track "These Streets." Nutini's moving first single, "Last Request," introduced him to music fans, while his debut album took him to the masses and was recently certified platinum in the UK. Meanwhile, Rolling Stone magazine named Paolo as one of its 10 Artists To Watch and Nutini has supported such superstars as Paul Weller, the Rolling Stones and shared the stage with Ben E. King. With a voice that falls somewhere between Al Green, Rod Stewart and Amos Lee, and songs like "Jenny Don't Be Hasty," "Rewind" and "New Shoes," Nutini is ready to take over the US. "All I want now is for enough people to identify with my songs so I can keep on singing them," says Nutini. "I like to think they're worth hearing." We think so too.
