release description

Back in 1995, Stuart Wade wouldn’t have guessed his passion for soul and jazz music would have spawned into a top-selling, 6 album strong career, collaborating with musicians who graduated from playing with legends like Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies and Incognito. As chief producer, writer and mastermind behind the UK outfit Down To The Bone, Wade and his band journeyed in just two years from their debut album, ‘From Manhattan to Staten,’ in 1997 to become the #1 best selling independent jazz group in the US. Down To The Bone are proof in point that quality and originality in music prevails: Dowsing their organic instrumentation with fiery free-form jazz rhythms, their songs breathed life into a stagnant scene and people began to buzz over their unique soul-funk sound.

The band continued its string of successful releases under Wade's leadership with ‘The Urban Grooves’ and ‘Crazy Vibes and Things,’ which was released on Verve Records. With growing demand for live appearances Down To The Bone became a well-established act, especially in the US touring circuit. Wade's final move was to his current label Narada Jazz, for which he recorded his last two albums and is now completing his seventh, ‘Supercharged,’ due for release in May 2007. Over the course of six albums Wade had the pleasure to work with guests such as Flora Purim, Roy Ayers, N'Dambi, Hil St Soul and Guida De Palma, as well as New York graffiti artist Frank Morrison, who depicts a fantasy party scene on the masterpiece cover, where Down To The Bone fuels the funky fire of a street jam session until the break of dawn - a joy for all lovers of rare groove and future funk.
