For Washington, DC native Blunt, making music has always been in his blood since his father was a member of the legendary group, The Drifters. Recording his first song at the age of three, he soon began playing the drums and keyboard. As a soloist in his church choir, he opened for several distinguished gospel artists like Vickie Winans and performed alongside Yolanda Adams. Later he became the lead male vocalist for Yamama'nym and Black Alley. Combining sultry soulful sounds with a touch of jazz, a hint of soul, and a twist of hip-hop, Yamama'nym quickly became one of the hottest live bands in the Washington, DC area, as well as Baltimore, St. Louis and Norfolk, VA. Blunt has also recorded with Jive Recordings artist Raheem DeVaughn and produced four songs for hip-hop artist 20x20's commercially released album, The Vision.
The classically trained singer-songwriter and producer's life changed when his close friend Gemini, who was signed to Blunt's label Boog Entertainment, was gunned down and killed in Southeast, D.C. in 2003. Over the next three years, B. Blunt worked to create Change an album that as Blunt says, “takes you on a metamorphic journey of experiences that I had to go thru in order to change for the better.” Of course, it doesn't hurt that the newcomer possesses a falsetto voice like the one that made women swoon and pass out at Marvin Gaye concerts, yet his range is way beyond ballads. From the funky guitar and organ sounds of "Married 2 Juana," to the sultry "Range Rover" and the sweet and sensual "Smile" featuring warm, vintage keys, Blunt gives a nod to the 70s. With performances alongside Al Green, Brian McKnight, Floetry, Anthony Hamilton and Erykah Badu under his belt and a sound that brings to mind John Legend, Donny Hathaway and Mint Condition, B.Blunt is sure to make that change he always dreamed of.
