release description

Jazz trumpeter Till Bronner, one of the most sought after trumpeters in the world, Bronner charms the listener with his sensual arrangements and intimate style. Born in Viersen, Germany and raised in Rome, Italy Bronner credits his parents (both musicians) for introducing him to the likes of Louis Armstrong and Charlie Parker at the age of 13. A few years later, Till expanded on his love for everything from hip hop and R&B to fusion and pop when he began studying the classical and jazz trumpet at Cologne’s Music Academy. After releasing nine solo albums, Bronner continues to keep busy by wearing the many hats of jazz musician, trumpeter, singer, composer, arranger and producer. He has also collaborated with a diverse group of artists including; Pat Metheny, Ray Brown, Tony Bennett, Chaka Khan and Natalie Cole to name a few. Most recently Bronner produced Mark Murphy’s new album Love Is What Strays on Verve.

Produced by Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Peter Gabriel), Oceana epitomizes Bronner’s subtle and sophisticated sultry jazz sound. He manages to deliver a sound that is tranquil and sensual yet playfully engaging on this 12-track album. Oceana boasts some fantastic duets with former supermodel and French songstress Carla Bruni on “In My Secret,” jazz chanteuse Madeleine Peyroux on “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” and Brazilian jazz singer Luciana Souza on “Pra Dizer Adeus.” His smooth rich vocals are also showcased on his version of Nick Drake’s “River Man” and on “This Guy’s In Love With You,” a Burt Bacharach and Hal David staple. Piano and organ player extraordinaire, Larry Goldings rounds out this gorgeous recording with the help of Dean Parks on guitar, David Piltch on bass and Jay Bellerose on drums. Other standout tracks include instrumentals; “Bumpin,” “Love Theme From Chinatown,” “The Peacocks,” and “A Distant Episode.”
