Miguel Migs has stood at the forefront of soulful electronic music since 1998. The northern California native was raised on heavy doses of chilled reggae (he was once a guitarist for a dub band called Zion Sounds), African, soul and hip-hop – all of which are transparent influences on his music today. Under the Petalpusher moniker he released seminal singles and EPs for Naked Music and helped define the vibrant house culture of the Bay Area. Migs’ stellar studio productions landed spots on TV shows Six Feet Under, Sex And The City, and MTV's Real World, while his remixes for Macy Gray and Lionel Richie continued to increase his international profile. In 2002, he released his inaugural album, ‘Colorful You,’ which painted hues of silky downtempo and R&B-flavored deep house.

Miguel Migs now returns with his sophomore album 'Those Things’ on his own label Salted Music. The album finds Migs meandering into the old school funk and soul side of the dance music spectrum focusing on his trademark high caliber production and tasteful songwriting. “Make Things Happen” and the title track are filled with classic Migs sounds – funky beats, guitar hooks, and vocals by longtime collaborator Lisa Shaw. “Shake It Up,” which features Sadat X of Brand Nubian infamy, is a hip-house joint with an old school piano loop. “Fire” harkens back to Migs’ days as a pre-teenage fan of the legendary “One Blood” Black Uhuru frontman Junior Reid, who lays down reggae stylings over an 80s boogie bassline. The result is an album that takes you on a ride through Miguel’s influences, seamlessly blended in a way that can only be called his own.
