release description

Sheffield-based Small Arms Fiya are producers Scott "Monkz" Moncrieff and Tom "Toddla" Bell. Their style is a fusion of hip-hop, soul, dancehall, broken beat, UK garage and Detroit techno influences, which creates an innovative and original sound, leading to remixes of artists such as; Jersey Street, Swag, Mark Rae and LoTek Hi Fi feat Roots Manuva and Sandra Melody. SAF have also gained support from the likes of Benji B, Mr Scruff, Wajeed, DJ Spinna, Bugz In The Attic and Sinden to name a few.

2006 gave us SAF's debut production material with the release of the soul drenched, motor city influenced “EP1” on Caught Out There Music, with vocals delivered by rising Sheffield talent Pete Simpson (Sunburst Band/ Elektrons). This was followed by the digital dancehall bombs "Give It To Me/Murderer," with MC's Serocee & LS, which demonstrated SAF’s eclectic taste and production genius.

SAF kick start 2007 with remixes of Nubian Mindz and Tone Control, before moving on to drop their next slice of wax on new Sheffield imprint MoreAboutMusic in April. Small Arms Fiya join forces with London-based singer/songwriter/MC Ayah (Calvin Harris, DJ Marky) to deliver "Pressure/Gotta Decide,' with broken beat supremo Domu on the remix. "Pressure" drops in with beats reminiscent of James 'Yancey' Dilla, with Ayah's soulful delivery adding the finishing touch to a track that will keep ya warm till summertime. On the flip you’ll find "Gotta Decide," where Ayah glides through an electronic P-Funk bomb, destined to detonate any dance floor. Whilst broken beat maestro Domu adds a slice of 1980s disco boogie dust for full effect.
