Los Angeles duo Shana Halligan and Kiran Shahani (co-founding member of Supreme Beings of Leisure) delivered an intoxicating and playful debut artist album, The Mating Game, which millions have heard on stereos, iPods, Zune players, on the internet, in hit movies, TV shows, and at one of their sold-out performances in venues nationwide. Since it was released in April 2006, a handful of the hottest producers were selected to remix Bitter:Sweet's tunes for vinyl singles, digital only releases and simply for fun. Curtis Mayfield dropping a heady hit of acid might be a good way to describe Londoners Skeewif's take on "Dirty Laundry," an uptempo, seductive floor-rocker. Meanwhile, space-pop mastermind Marsmobil (Roberto Di Gioia) transforms "Moody" into psychedelic Brit-rock - a pleasant diversion on an album full of heavy electronic remixes. And on aptly titled "Don't Forget To Breathe?," Pork Recordings' Solid Doctor (Steve Cobby) surrounds gentle ambiance with the repetitive drone of a synth line, creating a hypnotic sonic euphoria.
