This digital DJ promo features three of the most powerful tracks from The Roots' new album Rising Down. "Rising Up" feat. Wale and Chrisette Michele, is a swinging, jazz-flavored cut reminiscent of The Roots' early material, but with lyrics that provide a shot of the no-nonsense, razor sharp flavor that distinguishes their entire new album. Stripping things down to the bare essentials, "75 Bars (Black's Reconstruction)," recorded in one take, features Black Thought rapping 75 bars straight over a raw, droning backbeat. Director Rik Cordero recently shot a poignant video for the track in New York City. A video for the track "Get Busy" was also shot by Cordero and finds The Roots taking over a corporate office space. The song, which features Dice Raw, Peedi Crack and DJ Jazzy Jeff, revisits golden-era, East Coast hip-hop with the return of the boom-bap and synths to add the modern edge. Bringing you all three tracks, as well as the instrumentals and acappellas, this fist pumping digital DJ promo will surely keep the temperature rising.
