release description

You know you have met a true music artist when you feel overwhelmed by their energy, depth and raw talent. Some inspire you by the significance and melodic flow of their lyrics, others by their voice and the hidden strength and vision that emanates from their personality. With Donnie these strengths are combined and within the music realm of fellow neo-soul peers, India Arie, Macy Gray, and Jill Scott he is now set to come full force.

Since his initial 7" release, "Do You Know?", Donnie has caused a stir internationally because of his authentic style. He has earned the respect and enthusiasm from the industry and is championed by Garth Trinidad (KCRW, LA), Felix Hernandez (Jammin' 105 NY), Dr Bob Jones (BBC London), Choice FM London, and Radio Nova Paris. Currently, Donnie is on a 42-date tour supporting Boney James and has previously opened for India Arie and Jody Watley as well as selling out two nights at the Jazz Caf+ in London. Slated for release in Summer 2002, Donnie|s debut full-length, "The Colored Section", is a breath of fresh air and gives birth to the voice of a new musical leader.

This 7", "Our New National Anthem", was written by Donnie while witnessing the events of September 11th. Staying in New York during the tragedy and located only blocks away from the World Trade Center, Donnie wrote lyrics to ease his mind and give strength to those around him.
