release description

Flesh Tone is the new album from Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Kelis. Tipped as one of 2010's "Best Bets" by Billboard, the record will be her first for will.i.am Music Group/Interscope Records.

"Acapella," produced by David Guetta (producer of The Black Eyed Peas' smash single "I Gotta Feeling"), is already an international No. 1 hit, having topped both the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs Chart.

In addition to recording with Guetta, several other influential producers helped Kelis realize her vision for Flesh Tone, her first album in nearly four years.
Recorded primarily in Kelis' home studio, the shimmering, club-ready sound is the result of collaborations with Free School, Boys Noize and Burns. Label head will.i.am, co-produced the track "Brave" with Alle and Benny Benassi, who also produced "Emancipate."

"There's a physicality behind it - it's about blood, muscle, heart," says Kelis. "I was pregnant when I recorded 75 or 80 percent of this music. That's why there's such a feeling of freedom on it—you feel such confidence and sureness when this life is growing within you. So I started thinking, how do I portray this, and get people to feel how I felt? And that became a real driving force for me."

Flesh Tone is out in the U.S. and Canada on July 6th and on May 17th in all other countries.
