release description

The Roots are set to release their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Phrenology. It's the long awaited follow up to 1999's breakthrough Things Fall Apart, which featured the Grammy Award winning single "You Got Me." The Roots have long played an integral role in the development of the hip-hop genre, especially its live element. In a testament to their universality, Jay-Z chose the band to accompany him for his MTV Unplugged show and album. And earlier this year, The Roots made history with their groundbreaking performance at the world renowned Lincoln Center. The Roots continue to take their dynamic live show around the world. Following their recently televised performance on MTV's 2 Dollar Bill concert series, The Roots co-headlined this years Smokin Grooves Tour with Outkast and Lauryn Hill. Fans can look forward to hearing Phrenology, which will be released November 26. The album features guest appearances from Musiq (featured on the 1st single & video "Break You Off"), Jill Scott, Nelly Furtado, Talib Kweli, Amiri Baraka and Cody ChestnuTT and has already received early accolades from the press.
