release description

From the joint label Turntables on the Huson/Giant Step Records comes the much anticipated 4th Volume of Nickodemus & Mariano's underground party 'Turntables on the Hudson.'

As New York natives, Nickodemus and Mariano are world-renowned for the legendary party they've created. The Turntables on the Hudson parties provide a unique atmosphere: a river to one side, a skyline to the other, and surrounded by the sound of live percussionists and DJ's flowing with the newest underground dance sounds. With each passing summer, the parties further define artistic musical vision and passion, solidifying its stance as a precious staple to New York's musical scene. Their music and compilations perfectly capture the vibe and essence of their parties. Like the previous compilations, Volume 4 EP #1 features many unreleased tracks from the family of DJ's, musicians and producers that contribute to the vibe and energy of this homegrown NYC event.

On side A, DJ/Producer Raeo creates an Eastern Dub entitled "Kaettekura." This track gives us a feeling of a calm new beginning to the EP. The second track, "Silhouettes" by The Beat Pharmacy, is a collage of Brazillian, African dubbed-out Funk. From NYC to France & Spain, this original sounding track has moved many dancefloors in the past few weeks. On the flip side, we have a new track by Zeb & Mariano, under the name Marzebian, called "Let it Ride." Be patient to see how the sweet vocal line over a tight midtempo beat builds into a dancefloor filler.

NYC's hottest new Latin, Funk band, "Radio Mundial," blesses us with an interlude of Rhythm & Soul that further exemplifies the vision of the Turntables on the Hudson vibe (Make sure to look out for their upcoming album on Palm Pictures).

Last but not least, a bonus track from Puerto Rico's own Local 12 entitled "Jesus el Beat." After 2 compilations of musical contributions, here's one more to keep the Hudson connected to the Caribbean!
