Anthony Hamilton calls Harlem home these days but he doesn't forget his roots. The North Carolina-native got his start singing in his church choir and it shows on his debut album via hints of gospel mixed with southern funk and gritty soul. Hamilton has toured as a back up singer with D'Angelo and worked with hip-hop heavyweights Tupac and Eve. He even has a Grammy nomination under his belt for the catchy hook he sang on the Nappy Roots single "Po' Folks."
After all the supporting roles, it's time for Hamilton to shine solo. The young singer bares his soul through his honest and raw songs, channeling the old-school sounds of Bill Withers and Al Green. On the single "Comin' from Where I'm From," Hamilton recalls "Fronting in the 'hood trying to be somebody/My soul was on empty, I was searching for something." Hamilton's search is over, he has found his calling in life and is ready to share it with the world.
