release description

New Jersey native Robert Randolph found salvation in the church as a teenager while playing pedal steel guitar during raucous worship sessions. His album Unclassified is steeped with gospel but also incorporates rock jams, heavy funk basslines, and countrified tracks. Entertainment Weekly magazine calls Randolph's signature sound "Sly's own Family meeting the brothers Allman and Doobie at a gospel throwdown." Each song on Unclassified plays out like a church service by raising the energy higher and higher with call-and-response lyrics centered around his genius steel guitar and delivered with loads of soul. Pick up the album from the artist who stole the show at the 2004 Grammy Awards.
