Led by mastermind and music aficionado Stuart Wade, members of Down To The Bone have collaborated with Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, Lonnie Liston Smith and Incognito in the past. The band combines free-form rhythms of jazz and the organic instrumentation of soul-funk music. The luscious tropical track "Dancing to a Samba" features the scat-styled vocals of the Portuguese-born Guida de Palmer. Also lending a be-bop flavor to the album is Flora Purim, a singer who effortlessly makes each song sound like a musical carnival, particularly the house-flavored "The Flow." The cover of the album is a masterpiece in itself where New York graffiti artist Frank Morrison depicts a fantasy party scene in which Down To The Bone fuels the funky fire of a basement jam session until the break of dawn.
