release description
Production duo Masters At Work were the perfect choice to curate for a collection culled from the Verve label?s Latin music archives. Born and bred New Yorkers, "Little" Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez always made music that reflected the diverse sounds of the city streets. They blend the sounds of salsa, merengue, Cubop and afrobeat into deep global grooves that are united by fiery rhythms that set dance floors everywhere in to a frenzied state of boogie. The compilation showcases artists who are heroes to Vega and Gonzalez; Dave Pike, Eddie Palmieri, Carl Tjader, Herbie Mann and other innovators of Latin sounds. It?s apparent that these cuts are classics and will serve as a guide to some of the great Latin musicians of decades past.
