As a founding member of A Tribe Called Quest, Ali Shaheed Muhammad always had a message in his music for those who listened deeply. After Tribe started a groundbreaking jazz-rap revolution, Ali went on to create the hip-hop soul supergroup Lucy Peal with Raphael Saadiq and Dawn Robinson. 2004 finds Ali scheming on his own and creating music that is a personal statement straight from his soul, full of heavy grooves and beautiful ideas.
