release description

Gotan Project blended old world and new world rhythms seamlessly on their critically acclaimed debut 'La Revancha Del Tango.' Their new compilation album 'Inspiración-Espiración' is a collection of remixes that draws on the African roots of tango and takes inspiration from Argentinan folk as much as it resonates with the urban intensity of the city of Buenos Aires.

The remixes on this 12-inch prove once again that Gotan's music is energetic and club-friendly. The party kicks off with the upbeat sounds of the Interfearance Vocal Remix. Interfearence is known for their albums on FFRR and Ubiquity Records and have a wide range of fans (including Ashley Beedle and Gilles Peterson) thanks to their eclectic mix of tribal beats and afro funk. On these remixes they retain the basic elements of the song adding a few sounds that make the song upbeat. Flip the disc for the slower First Man Remix. First Man are an emerging production due from the UK who have co written and produced a wide variety of urban artists from Skinnyman and Fallacy to The 411. Their stop & go beats fit in perfect with broken beat, 2 step and soulful sets. Next up is Ya Basta's latest signing David Walters who gives the track a slightly darker feel while still keeping the accordion in the mix. Last but not least, the original mix is added for those who like the song as it appears on the CD.
