M83 will release 'Before The Dawn Heals Us,' the follow up to 'Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts' on January 25, 2005. The first single from the new album, "Don’t Save Us From The Flames," is a stridently optimistic and uplifting anthem that seems to feature a rogue theremin at its heart, as well as the trademark M83 sound and beatific choral backing vocals.

M83's second album, 'Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts' gained significant attention in North America when it was released in Europe during the fall of 2003, selling 2,000 CDs on import alone. After the North American release by Mute on July 27, 2004, M83's visibility elevated through a North American tour, glowing press coverage, non-commercial radio (peaking at #2 on the CMJ Chart), and just plain "word of mouth;" propelling awareness to further increase.

M83 is essentially the brainchild of Anthony Gonzalez, who resides in the seaside town of Antibes, France. For M83's first North American tour in September of 2004, sponsored by the influential non-commercial station, KEXP, Gonzalez assembled a permanent touring line up, consisting of Gonzalez on guitar/keyboards/vocals, another guitarist, bassist and drummer, enabling M83's sonic soundscapes to come alive in a club setting.

M83 sold out New York’s Bowery Ballroom and Los Angeles’ Knitting Factory, as well as performing two shows in one night in Chicago when demand for tickets became overwhelming. The New York Times wrote in the live review, "The pieces were awakened from an ethereal dream state to a realm of sweat and gravity."
