release description

Established in 2000, SA-RA Creative Partners have produced and appeared on songs for Bilal, Pharoahe Monch, Dr. Dre, Jill Scott, Common, Killer Mike, Goapele, Jurassic 5, N.E.R.D. and many others. Earlier this year SA-RA released their first single as a group, “Glorious" / “Rosebuds," which has become an international sensation and garnered them such acclaim as John Peel’s coveted Play More Jazz award and constant play and support from Gilles Peterson on his BBC Radio 1 program “Worldwide." Cutting edge, artistic, sexy & whimsical, their sound is a truly original marriage of funk, jazz, hip hop, and just about every other musical genre known to mankind.

Upon receiving the challenge of reinterpreting the music of legendary groove trio superstars Medeski Martin & Wood from their lauded John King-produced platter End Of The World Party (just in case), SA-RA brought to bear the full power of their musical arsenal with their own soulful vision of a nocturnal bird soaring through a funky urban landscape.  End Of The World Party (just in case) has already been described by Signal to Noise as “the trio’s most detained and varied offering yet, an atmospheric, abstracted tribute to ’70s funk and soul records with heavy shag carpeting and smooth naugahyde seats...there might even be a waterbed in the back."—making it perfect material for SA-RA to take into their own part of the stratosphere. This 12" also features the original version of “Midnight Poppies / Crooked Birds" on the B-side.
