release description

Originating in the tiny British Midlands town of Beeston and now hailing from London, Little Barrie (guitarist and frontman Barrie Cadogan, drummer Wayne Fullwood, and bassist Lewis Wharton) are winning over fans at a prodigious rate. Recent highlights range from packed solo shows to nods from artists including Johnny Marr (who tapped Cadogan for his Healers project) and Paul Weller, who recently invited the band to open his massive Hyde Park show this summer. Little Barrie has also turned heads in the hip hop community, opening several shows for De La Soul in London and attracting Jurassic 5's DJ Nu-Mark to remix their "Burned Out".

With the release of their debut album, 2005 promises to be a banner year for Little Barrie. “They’re an impossibly tight and confident trio... they could do for the funk what The White Stripes have been doing for the blues" raves the NME, and Mojo continues: “Their in-the-pocket grooves and guitar pyrotechnics put you in mind of both the Meters and Stone Roses, Hendrix and Shuggie Otis. So forget preconceptions... new funk can be vital and, well, new -- Little Barrie are the proof."

“They could do for funk what the White Stripes have been doing for the blues... impossibly tight and confident" — NME

“Little Barrie play an astounding collection of bluesy-soul future classics. Sounding not unlikeHendrix covering The Temptations, they succeed in capturing the essence of the Delta and bottling it in a contemporary garage brew." — The Independent Review

“Barrie Cadogan and his bandmates... deal in a sound that’s as urgent and involved as it is classic in its contruction. It’s the sort of thing those who crave authenticity would sell their children to channel.... fascinatingly oblique songs are played with confidence and laid -back precision." (4 Stars) — Mojo
