Motown Records put Detroit on the map in the 1960s and the name is still synonymous with true soul music today. Motown Remixed is a loving tribute to the legendary label and compiles some of the most popular songs from Berry Gordy’s musical empire and gives them modern makeovers. The album urges you to hear it again for the first time with highlights including Gladys Knight’s “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” remixed by The Randy Watson Experience, a project headed by ?uestlove, and a DJ Smash interpretation of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.” Mocean Worker funks up “I Just Want to Celebrate” by Rare Earth, Motown’s one rock group and DJ Spinna works heavy magic on “Keep On Truckin’,” a monster tune by original Temptations member Eddie Kendricks.
