Ben Watt is raising the standard on DJ mix compilations with the second installment of his Buzzin’ Fly series. Instead of the usual pumping basslines over and over, Watt tells a story through his selections, even including spoken word segments that introduce characters and give a cohesive feel to the set as it unfolds musically. Paying respect to DJs like Larry Levan who mixed boogie beats with meaningful lyrics, 'Buzzin’ Fly Volume 2' is an excellent snapshot of the times we live in and is available now as a special gatefold digipack CD. The dance floor is a place to let go but also a spot to come together as a community and Watt remembers this.
