release description
The dub genre and its humble beginnings trace back to the tiny island of Jamaica. Born out of the need for a B-side on a record but a lack of money to record an entirely new track, these warped instrumentals were a quick fix for a situation yet went on to have a gigantic influence on the global music world. Trojan Dub Massive is a two chapter exploration of the beloved reggae label’s catalog. Rule breaking producer and remixer Bill Laswell is the perfect guide through the humid, sticky melodies of heavyweights like The Upsetters, Sly & Robbie, King Tubby and the elusive Scientist. Laswell’s ambient stylings mingle easily with the cosmic vibrations of these classic originals.
