release description

DJ Center is one third of the Rootdown NYC Soundsystem, and was instrumental in bringing the legendary long-playing Los Angeles party to New York. Alongside residencies in New York City, Center often guests in California and has toured Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, in support of last year's “Force of Life” 12” release (with former group Open Thought) on Wide Hive Records.

In addition to his own nights, Center has been found spreading his soulful palate alongside notable DJs Bobbito, Spinna, Rob Swift, Qool Marv, J-Boogie, Numark, Large Professor, Pete Rock, and Grandmaster Flash, among others.
Feel What I’m Feelin’ marks the new CD release that marries the facets of Hip Hop, Soul, and Jazz into a double-disc mix.

Disc one (HipHopSoul Side), features exclusives from Pharoahe Monch & SA-RA, Raheem DeVaughn (JazzyJeff/Touch of Jazz), The Last Poets, and remixes from the likes of 4Hero & YamWho, on Dj Krush’s “Meiso” (featuring Black Thought & Malik B of the Roots), and John Legend’s “Used to Love U”, respectively. Also in the mix, Center unearths slept-on b-sides like Digable Planet’s “Dedicated” and Q-Tip’s “Money Maker”.

Disc Two (Jazz in the Color Purple), finds Center in deep concentration, weaving jazz rarities that provided inspiration for the soundtracks from which the Golden Era Hip Hop drew. However, this mix is not a sample-based guessing game; it is simply harmonious soul vibes from start to finish. This eclectic mix will undoubtedly have you feelin’ what he’s feelin’ and more.
