Detroit singer Dwele has some kinda talent and some kinda fierce flair that is boldly evident in his soulful grooves. His second album, simply titled Some Kinda… is full of hard edged R&B with a Motor City twist -- it’s worth noting he got one of his big breaks by singing hooks for Slum Village. The 26-year-old has come a long way since his debut record took radio waves by storm and he sounds more comfortable with his voice now. Each song is full of elegant and deep sentiments, delivered in a thoroughly modern way.

After his breakaway hit “Find A Way” dropped, he raised the bar and all eyes were on him to carry the torch of R&B artists like D’Angelo. Not only does he step up to co-produce this album, but he delivers 13 sophisticated tracks that deliver warmth - just in time for the cool weather of autumn and winter. On the new album, he enlisted the expertise of fellow writer/producers Mike City (who worked with Bilal, Nappy Roots and Dave Hollister), Jay Dilla (of Slum Village and Common fame), as well as G-1 (who lent an able hand to R. Kelly and Raphael Saadiq). It’s going to be some kinda big year for Dwele, a singer who is ready to take the microphone and stand center stage.
