release description

Featuring remixes by Thievery Corporation, Medeski Martin & Wood, John King, Anthony Marinelli and more, 'Rewhipped' serves up a groovalicious take on the landmark 'Whipped Cream and Other Delights.'

Herb Alpert's most famous album is "Whipped Cream & Other Delights," which spent eight weeks at #1 on the Billboard album charts and which won four Grammy awards. Revisiting that landmark release, Herb Alpert joins up with a stellar crew of visionary remixers to deliver a fresh new take on every track of "Whipped Cream & Other Delights." Adding 21st-century flavor to these classic recordings, Rewhipped includes John King of famed production team the Dust Brothers ("A Taste of Honey"), L.A.'s fiercely eclectic collective Ozomatli ("Whipped Cream," "Love Potion #9"), jazz-funk masters Medeski Martin & Wood ("El Garbanzo"), avatars of electronica Thievery Corporation ("Lemon Tree"), sample-juggling genius Mocean Worker ("Bittersweet Samba") and more. However, not content to merely hand off his originals for contemporary reinvention, Alpert has recorded tasty new trumpet solos for selected tracks, personally revisiting them with the passionate signature sound for which he is renowned. The result is a record that pays tribute to the original, while sounding as innovative as ever.
