Night One: Giant Step 35.5 Celebration
We’re marking 35.5 years of Giant Step with a special night featuring Gilles Peterson, Ron Trent, and Kassa Overall.
Both Gilles and Ron have deep roots in the Giant Step story — from Gilles’ legendary DJ sets and the timeless Nuyorican Soul era to Ron’s influential residency and production work during Giant Step Records’ golden years in the late ’90s and early 2000s.
Expect an extraordinary musical journey only these legends can deliver, plus a powerful live set from Kassa Overall, whose new album Cream is redefining the boundaries between jazz and hip-hop.

Join Gilles Peterson for a one-of-a-kind evening that blurs the line between performance and storytelling.
A globally respected broadcaster, DJ, label owner, and festival curator, Gilles has spent four decades championing underground music worldwide. In this intimate set, he’ll “enter into a conversation with his records,” connecting the dots between his favorite sounds — past, present, and future.
Think of it as a live radio show you can see, with Gilles sharing the stories and spirit behind the music.
