Jaheim’s New Album Another Round

February 8th, 2010

The new album from Jaheim, Another Round, including the remix of “Ain’t Leavin Without You ft Jadakiss” and “Finding My Way Back” will be released tomorrow. On Another Round, Jaheim maintains the lush vocals, relatable singles and uplifting lyrics that have become his trademark since his 2001 debut, and continues to refine the sound of his 2007 album, The Makings of a Man. In a time when artists are known mostly for celebrity connections, or whether or not they use Autotune, Jaheim is just what the industry needs.

Si*Sé “This Love” Crystal Pharoah Remix

February 5th, 2010

On the upcoming Si*Sé Gold EP, singer/DJ Carol C’s voice evokes a sophisticated sensuality, singing in English and Spanish over producer Cliff Cristofaro’s post-trip-hop grooves. The band also includes drummer Ryan Farley, bassist Morgan Phillips, percussionist Neil Ochoa and violinist Nicole Arena.

For the single “This Love,” Carol turned to Cristofaro for a “Motown-ish track.” He was ready for the request, pulling out a sweetly spaced rhythm with plenty of room for Carol’s dream-like vocals to fly over: her heartfelt convictions, one which has caused innumerable fans to connect to her with, is in full force here. “I was talking to many different people around the same time,” she says, “and they all seemed to be in search of the perfect love. This song came out of those conversations.”  We also have a remix from The Crystal Pharoah (aka the producer, Cliff Cristofaro), a divine slice of disco cut with trilling string trimmings.

Official Leak from Erykah Badu’s New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh

February 5th, 2010

Erykah Badu Erykah Badu has announced the release date for her fifth studio album, New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh. The new album is the singer’s hotly anticipated follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2008 disc, New Amerykah Part One: 4th World War.

In contrast to New Amerykah Part One: 4th World War, which was digitally produced and political in tone, New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh features lush live instrumentation and taps into Badu’s emotional side by thematically focusing on romance and relationships. “With Part One, I was standing at an apex, looking at what was going on around me politically, socially, and economically,” Badu explained. “With Part Two, I’m hovering over me, looking at what’s going on inside of me.”

Salvador Santana’s Keyboard City In Stores Now

February 2nd, 2010

Music is a burst of choices. Not only what note to play when and with what instrument, but whether to play a note at all. Salvador Santana, the 26-year-old keyboardist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter with strong Bay Area roots, knows what it means to navigate the infinite options of music.

Collaboration has always been the centerpiece of his creations, and this passion manifested his solo debut, Keyboard City around the inspirations of a few legends: Bay Area MC/producer Del the Funky Homosapien who helped hone in Santana’s writing skills, Beastie Boy studio wizard Money Mark, and GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. The legendary founder of the Wu-Tang Clan rallied support around the album by featuring on the remix of the title track, “Keyboard City.”

In March, Salvador Santana will tour extensively in support of the new album with his keyboard-centric band. Check out the album release party in LA this Thursday, free with RSVP. More tour dates here.
